Even if it’s not Valentine’s Day, you can still dress up for your sweetie or loved one and surprise them – as a LoveBug!! It’s the perfect costume idea for if you missed Valentine’s Day or if you just want to show someone that you care! Not only that, but when Halloween comes around, pull your costume back out and use it again! This is an especially god costume choice for a singing telegram! The best part about this outfit is that you don’t have to buy a special kit to make it look really cute…it’s pretty simple to put one together on your own!
How to make a lovebug costume
1. COLOR – The first thing you need to know, is this costume should be red, ideally to signify the color of love. If not red, then you can make it pink. You will add in some black for some nice contrast. Pretty much any type of clothing will work here. A red tank top with red lycra shorts topped with a black tutu is perfect! Don’t have those? Try a red or black dress with red or black tights, that will work too! Don’t worry, you’re going to make the outfit look plenty “buggy” with the accessories…the most important part is to look cute!
2. BUGGY – The next thing that you should know is that the next main part of the costume is that it is a “bug” costume…meaning that you want to show this somehow…wings and antennae are the perfect way to show your “bugginess”. Another way to do this is with black spots on top of your red clothing. The spots will make you look a little bit like a ladybug.
3. FACE – Remember, this is a “bug” costume, so you don’t want to overlook your face in the costume. The easiest thing to do is to get a large pair of oversized shades to give your eyes that “bugged out” look! A little bit of red blush on your cheeks will help complete the picture!
