Costumes of Captain America
The Captain America Halloween Costume is an iconic halloween choice. It is so easily recognizable that everyone will know instantaneously who you are for halloween – it’s also very versatile, being great for both kids and adults! The only problem with this costume choice is that it is a somewhat difficult costume to make yourself (although, don’t get me wrong! It can be done!) If you do choose to make it yourself, be sure to give yourself plenty of time – it’s not a costume that can be made well overnight.
Captain America Mask
Let’s start with the top of the costume – the mask! Captain America wears a mask on his face – which means if you’re wanting a “Masked Superhero” costume – this is the choice for you! Take a look at the photo below – make sure your mask is blue and covers most of your face. Putting a large “A” across the forehead will also help distinguish this mask from others.
How to Make Captain America’s shield
The First Avenger’s most significant costume item is the shield. It is iconic and quite easy to make at home if you didn’t want to buy it. The shield is a simple circle with rings of red and white, blue in the center, and a large white star in the very middle.
To make a homemade shield, there are a few easy steps.
- Get something large, lightweight, and circular. You can get an old satellite dish,a large circular frisbee, a large pot lid, or even a garbage can lid. If you dont have any of these items, you can use a large sheet of cardboard and cut out a circular pattern.
- Using duct tape, create two handles on the “inside” portion of the lid so you have some way to carry it.
- Paint the outside of the shield as resembled in the picture below, and you’re done.
Captain America Costume for Kids
The kids version of this outfit is probably best done by purchasing a pre-made outfit from the story. The outfits are typically one piece, and will have everything including a representation of Captain America’s knee-high boots and a mask to throw over the face. Here are some photos…
