Costume of a Goat
If you’re looking for a costume that will really stand out, and that noone will forget, there is hardly a better choice than the costume of the goat! Another great reason to wear a goat costume? 2015 is the year of the goat according to the Chinese New Year 2015! (Actually, some are saying it’s the year of the “horned animal” which could include the sheep – but let’s not get into that right now!)
So, if you want your costume to be totally relavent, and totally unique, this is how you can get the best costume of goat in your city! (Incidentally, it will probably be the only goat costume in your city!!) 😉 If you’re looking for more inspiration than what you find here – check out Jemaine Clement’s version of the goat in the movie Dinner for Schmucks – this is essentially what you’re going for!
The Evil Costume of Goat
#1. The Mask.
Probably the best version of the goat costume is the “evil” goat costume. This costume is designed to terrify, and it is unlikely that anyone would make fun of you in this one – it’s straight out of a twisted version of Narnia. To make this Goat Costume, you’ll need to find a half goat mask which has horns and a snout. These are easily found online for sale..since it’s a half mask, you’ll need makeup for your face – your lips should be black, rim your eyes in black as well, and add streaks to your cheeks like fur or wrinkles. The mask should come with a wig, or some kind of short hair to complete the effect. Check out this picture (to the left) of the goat mask so you get an idea of what your face should look like.
#2. The body.
The rest of the Goat Costume is fairly simple. You will not wear a shirt, but will be bare-chested. Your legs however, up to your waste, will be covered in fur to resemble a goat. There are various choices for purchase online – the legs are worn like pants and will cover your feet..sometimes there are also suspenders designed to help hold up the pants. The effect of this lower-body fur along with the goat mask that you’re wearing is fairly unforgettable! You’ll end up looking like a creature from another world – even like a demon creature if you get your makeup right!
The Mascot Goat Costume
If you’re looking for a less serious version of the Costume of the Goat, you can try a mascot-style costume, where from head to toe, you’re covered in a full-bodied goat costume. These costumes are much less scary and are pretty kid friendly. You’ll want to be sure it’s not too hot outside if you’re choosing this style of costume, as you’ll be in a thick body covering and can quickly overheat! This style is best for kids birthday parties, sporting events, or events where many kids will be present.
The Baby Costume of the Goat
Finally, and unsurpisingly, a costume of a goat is a great choice for a baby – for some reason babies look great in anything with ears! And since goats haf long floppy ears, this is a perfect choice for a young baby. Another plus is that since they often come in onesie form, this costume will keep you baby nice and toasty even on the coldest nights!
