4th of July Costumes
If you want to get dressed up in a 4th of July Costume, what choices do you have? Hats, shoes, shirts, dresses – even handkerchiefs – there are many choices available. Most traditionally, anything that has a red, white, and blue motif or a flag on it will work as part of a costume. If you don’t have a complete matching costume, in a pinch just grab something with these colors to theme yourself for the Fourth! But if you have a little more time, there are many costume choices if you want to be “Mr” or “Mrs” or “Miss” Independence Day! Be ready however to be the center of attention!
If you want a full-body costume, there are several choices – most of them aimed at women or girls. Most choices include some type of a dress or skirt with stars and stripes. Many choices also include an apron on the front of the skirt as this is what was typical during the founding of the country. Don’t forget a white cap on your head and your full body costume is done!! If you don’t want to purchase a costume – look at the images to get an idea of what’s available, then make one yourself! The styles are pretty simple, the most important part in these costumes is the color!!! Red, white, and blue!! If you’re a male, a good costume choice is a costume of Uncle Sam! 🙂
HATS for the FOURTH!
If you don’t want to get completely dressed up, try something on your head!! The typical style hat you want to look for is something tall along the style of Uncle Sam’s hat. This is VERY easy to make out of cardboard – key thing again is the colors – red white and blue!! If you don’t want a traditional hat, a bandana themed with a flag motif will work – and you can pick it up pretty easily at WalMart!
Red White and Blue Accessories?
What else is out there? Other choices if you just want to add a little Fourth of July flare are some Shoes!! Converse makes a great set of Independence Day Shoes. If you have some old shoes, you can also use fabric paint to color them and instantly have a pair perfect for your costume!!
Other costumes you might think about for Independence Day if you really want to stand out could include a Statue of Liberty, an Eagle (think of the United States Flag), or a Founding Father (vest, hat and buckles will complete the look!)
